LAURA HILEMAN

Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist

It has been my life-long passion to help others, as I have been through my own personal journey of healing and overcoming through many seasons in my life. I enjoy walking alongside my clients as they process their journeys, helping them to gain a better understanding of themselves and build skills in areas where they feel stuck. I believe that building trust and connection in our therapeutic relationship is essential. I have been told that I make people feel comfortable very quickly and that I am easy to talk to.

My counseling style is to create a safe and nurturing atmosphere where you feel seen and cared about unconditionally. Part of my role is helping to point out insights and themes that I hear from you as we go. I want to provide you with empathy, advocacy, and reflection to help you identify what may be at the heart of your symptoms. This can often be a larger issue or pattern that can lead to problems in multiple areas of your life, and I want to help you build skills to work through these areas. I also believe that certain life events and relationships, whether past or present, can affect your current feelings, relationships, and choices.

My goal is that through this process, you and I will collaborate to form your goals for therapy, as I seek to help you progress in the next step of your own path.Through multiple years of experience serving in leadership, ministry, mentoring, and education, I have had the joy of being able to walk side by side with many adults, children, and teens on their paths of healing and growth. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Sacramento State University, and a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology/MFT Track from Santa Clara University. My areas of interest include working with adult clients to help them through seasons of anxiety, depression, self-exploration, attachment, trauma, relationship issues, singleness, career and life calling, and spirituality (when requested). I am also currently accepting children and teenage clients. I have worked for years as a School Mental Health Clinician, counseling children in schools ages 4 to 18 on issues of behavior, social skills, defiance, and emotion regulation.
